KOURANUI BASKETBALL SHOOT FOR HOOPS

new hoopOn Saturday night, during halftime of the Wellington Saints game, Bodhi, Aubree and Belle took part in a shoot off on centre court against tamariki from Petone Central School, with the winner getting new basketball hoops for their school.  This was an awesome experience for them, and they performed so well in front of a packed house of about 3,500 spectators at the ASB Arena.  At the end of the shoot off both schools were tied at 3 -3.  The organisers decided to award both school brand new basketball hoops which is amazing.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Mr G for encouraging our tamariki to have a go and enter this competition and to Rutherford & Bond and King Toyota for sponsoring the new hoops for us.

BASKETBALL AND NETBALL LINE PAINTING

With the weather now more settled and the ground dry, we have managed to get new line painting done on the basketball and netball courts.  We took the opportunity to get padder tennis courts drawn up as well.  This will make playing games on the courts a lot easier now we can see the outline of the courts.

2023 - SAINTS BASKETBALL SESSION

Some of our Years 5 & 6 tamariki were fortunate enough to have a basketball coaching session with two members of Saints Basketball team this week.  This was a great boost for them as the new season kicks off.  We are impressed with some of the skills our tamariki have.

2022

In Term 2 we had 4 teams entered, then in Term 3 we managed to enter another Year 5/6 team making a total of 5. A great response. While sickness affected the attendance of some players, all teams did their best on the court; – sometimes playing with just 4 or 5. Hard work!

Congratulations to the players who turned up for every or nearly every game.

The special awards were as follows:

Most Improved Players:  Year1/2 = Alexus, Year 3/4 = Lincoln, Year 5/6 = Maico

Team MVPs: Tahi = Jaxon, Rua = Charlee, Toru = Robbie, Wha = Tamihana, Rima = Oli

Most Promising Overall = Hunter D (Room 7)

A big thank you to all the parents and families who came along and supported the children. Your enthusiasm was certainly appreciated. And a special big thank you to the parents who offered their services as coaches and managers; - the season could not have gone ahead without you. Of special mention Zane, Rosie, Michelle, Spencer and Bevan.
